Hi, I'm Kathi!
Nice to have you here. Kathi Daniela is my little internet space that's all about mindful travelling in the Balkans and living abroad.
I'm not the type to try bungee jumping or shark diving - but I drink dangerous amounts of coffee, hardly ever miss a sunset and always try to soak up every moment as best I can anyway. Sometimes with my camera in hand, sometimes just for my personal memory box!
I wasn't always an adventurous traveller - I spent most of my life in Germany, studying and doing my traineeship. But in 2016, I packed my bags and moved abroad to South Africa, where I had lived and worked for three months the year before. Since then, I have made Cape Town, Prague, Hamburg, Munich, Split and Sarajevo my home cities. Sarajevo is where I live now. Here I work as a Freelance Travel Writer and together with my partner, I have founded the boutique travel agency .Cheyf in Bosnia-Herzegovina, creating responsible and mindful travel experiences for our guests.
I hope that this blog will inspire you to go out into the world (whether as an expat or simply as a traveller who wants to explore this beautiful planet off the beaten path and underrated countries in a mindful and slow way.
Since I moved abroad in 2016, my way of travelling has changed: I explore countries more in depth, stay longer in one place and want to learn as much as I can about cultures and traditions. Just like the fascinating Balkan region, which never ceases to inspire me.
This blog is now much more than the online diary it started out as: It combines travel tips, culinary delights, culture and columns from expat life.
My aim is to show you the most beautiful places, the best photo spots, the most amazing artisans in a country, to write down where to find the best food and to always keep one thing in mind: What impact does our trip have on the country we are travelling to - on the environment, on the local communities?
I want to inspire you to travel in a socially and environmentally sustainable way. That's why you won't find any bucket lists or rushed itineraries on this blog - on the contrary, I even hold the unpopular opinion that you should visit many countries and cities several times and go in depth, off the beaten path. To do this, I suggest local and sustainable providers, accommodation and activities. off the beaten path. Dazu schlage dir euch lokale und nachhaltige Anbieter, Unterkünfte und Aktivitäten vor.
Let's start travelling with more mindfulness and openness again, and create lasting memories!
