I've been living in Sarajevo since 2021 - and I've been working from home for just as long. This can sometimes be quite depressing, boring or lonely - depending on the mood of the day. For me, it's simply a must to get out of my own four walls regularly so that creativity can flow and - quite honestly - also so that I don't realise at the end of the day: Oh, I haven't spoken to anyone except the cats for the last 24 hours!
If you feel the same way or have just arrived in Sarajevo as a digital nomad, here are the best co-working spaces and cafés for working remotely in Sarajevo.

Remote work friendly cafés in Sarajevo
Kawa
Ever since its opening in 2021, Kawa is my favourite remote work spot! I come here several times a month, the barista knows my order before I make it and I have my favourite corner to sit in – call it my Luke’s Diner!
☕️ Really good barista coffee
📶 Usually reliable, also sometimes goes for a video call
🗣️ Quite calm, even when it's full
🥙 Only croissants, which are always sold out quickly. But you can order food online and eat here
Fabrika Dalmatinska
In the centre of the old town, with cool industrial-style furnishings and excellent coffee - I'm always drawn back here to work and I'm often not the only one working remotely with my laptop
☕️ Really good barista coffee
📶 Usually reliable
🗣️ It can get a bit noisy at lunchtime
🥙 Only croissants and cakes
Coffee Station Grbavica
A great spot if you want to get out of the city centre and see something different - and after work: pack away your laptop and walk along the Wilson promenade right by the Miljacka river to detox a little.
☕️ Good coffee
📶 Wi-Fi is so-so. Solid enough for normal work but not video calls
🗣️ It can get a bit noisy at lunchtime
🥙 Large selection of dishes
Metropolis Titova
You're right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city, but you can still work well at the cosy tables. Smoking is also banned on the upper floor, which is why I'm often drawn there. Or if I have enough battery, I sit downstairs when the large glass windows are open to the street.
☕️ Coffee happy hour before 10.00 a.m., solid cappuccino
📶 Can be quite slow, be prepared to sometimes use a hotspot
🗣️ It's quieter on the upper floor
🥙 Large selection of sweet and savoury dishes
😃 Local tip: Tipping is not a must in cafés in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but I still think it's appropriate to at least round up the bill. The waiter won't ask you to leave and pay, even if your cup is long empty, but I think it's appropriate to leave a few extra marks if you are staying for a longer period of time.
Ministry of Ćejf SCC
It's a super relaxed place to sit in the garden and you can also do a bit of people-watching outside. Ministry of Ćejf is usually too far for me to walk (yes, meetings with me usually take place in and around my neighbourhood Mejtaš, haha). But when I'm there, I like it every time.
☕️ Solid cappuccino and flat white
📶 Mostly reliable
🗣️ Right on the main road, so nothing if you need a quiet space to concentrate
🥙 Good selection of cakes and savoury dishes
Bistro Zradvo
Stylish interior, fast Wi-Fi and a large selection of coffee and healthy, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The atmosphere here is also always relaxed and quiet. Perfect for a concentrated power hour. Power Hour.
☕️ Good coffee
📶 Fast internet, even works for video calls
🗣️ Rather quiet
🥙 Large selection of snacks and dishes

Conclusion: Co-working spaces for remote work and digital nomads in Sarajevo
I personally think that the prices for co-working here are a bit expensive compared to other European cities - of course, many of the spaces are newly opened, modern and easily accessible by public transport. Nevertheless, for me personally, the large, shared work table in Kawa or a quick work session in another café in the area is often enough.
However, I still think it's good that there are now also offices and open offices - after all, they allow you to work in an office environment, you get to know new people, and you don't have to worry about a barista bursting into your Zoom call with the boss too give you your new order.
At the end of the day, I would say: personal preference. You can find more information about life as a digital nomad in Sarajevo here..
